Home of one of the first "Made in Oregon" events near the turn of the 20th century, Sherman County is a community of makers, farmers, shopkeepers, ranchers, and pioneers. The county’s 831 square miles of rolling hills and river-carved canyons range in elevation from 185 feet on the Columbia River to 3,600 feet on the south plateau. The soil is mostly loess, a rich wind-blown glacial silt, layered with ancient basalt soil and fertile volcanic ash.

Doing business in Sherman County means you'll have the lay of the land, incentives for adding wind turbines or rental housing, and a property tax break for the first three to five years of many non-retail endeavors. And there's no county business tax.
